Yesterday I didn&#8217;t leave the house. Today, I went out into the world shielded by dark glasses and headphones. I went to some galleries alone and wandered their dark halls, seeing works by the sublime <a title=\"NGV - William Blake\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ngv.vic.gov.au\/whats-on\/exhibitions\/exhibitions\/william-blake\" target=\"_blank\">William Blake<\/a> and video artist <a title=\"NGV - Wang Gongxin\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ngv.vic.gov.au\/whats-on\/exhibitions\/exhibitions\/wang-gongxin-video-artist\" target=\"_blank\">Wang Gongxin<\/a>; the fantastic <a title=\"ACCA - Douglas Gordon\" href=\"https:\/\/www.accaonline.org.au\/exhibition\/douglas-gordon-only-way-out-only-way-in\" target=\"_blank\">Douglas Gordon<\/a>; <a title=\"NGV Australia - David McDiarmid\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ngv.vic.gov.au\/whats-on\/exhibitions\/exhibitions\/david-mcdiarmid-when-this-you-see-remember-me\" target=\"_blank\">David McDiarmid<\/a>,\u00a0photographer <a title=\"NGV Australia - Sue Ford\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ngv.vic.gov.au\/whats-on\/exhibitions\/exhibitions\/sue-ford\" target=\"_blank\">Sue Ford<\/a>, and the\u00a0<a title=\"NGV Australia - Top Arts\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ngv.vic.gov.au\/whats-on\/exhibitions\/exhibitions\/top-arts-vce-2014\" target=\"_blank\">Startup:\u00a0Top Arts 2014<\/a> exhibition.<\/p>\n<p>Now I&#8217;m back at home cooking soup, listening to Pink Floyd, and preparing for a quiet evening watching Wagner&#8217;s Tristan and Isolde.<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow I am going to take advantage of the public holiday by heading to my office at the University. I have so much on at the moment, a day free of distractions is just what I need to help me catch up.<\/p>\n<p>I hope everyone else is recharging in their own ways over the long weekend.
