After being out and about on Friday night, I am having a solitary weekend. Yesterday I didn’t leave the house. Today, I went out into the world shielded by dark glasses and headphones. I went to some galleries alone and wandered their dark halls, seeing works by the sublime William Blake and video artist Wang Gongxin; the fantastic Douglas Gordon; David McDiarmid, photographer Sue Ford, and the Startup: Top Arts 2014 exhibition.

Now I’m back at home cooking soup, listening to Pink Floyd, and preparing for a quiet evening watching Wagner’s Tristan and Isolde.

Tomorrow I am going to take advantage of the public holiday by heading to my office at the University. I have so much on at the moment, a day free of distractions is just what I need to help me catch up.

I hope everyone else is recharging in their own ways over the long weekend. See you next week.
